How To Use An Inversion Table Successfully

If you suffer from chronic back pain, you may be looking for a way to get relief. An inversion table, if used correctly, may help you to get the back pain relief that you need. For the best results you should prepare your back for the time you will spend on the table. This will allow your spine to decompress.

Back pain is often caused by compressed or bulging discs. This table allows you to take the pressure off the disc in order for it to return to its natural shape. If you continue the process over time, the disc may heal and return to its normal shape permanently preventing your back pain.

To prepare your back for the inversion experience you will need to do some stretching of the muscles. Once the muscles have been stretched, the inversion allows the joints of the spine to stretch slightly and take the pressure off of your back.

One stretching exercise that helps to prepare the back uses a towel roll that is about six inches in diameter. The person is seated in a chair and places the towel in his lap. Keeping the roll against the belly, the person leans forward over the towel for approximately fifty repetitions. In addition to loosening the back muscles, this will get healing blood flow back in the back.

Another effective stretch is the prayer stretch. This stretch is performed while kneeling on your floor. Your buttocks should stay on your heels for the stretch. Bend at the waist with your arms stretched in above your head until the fingertips hit the floor. Stay in this position for thirty seconds. Relax and then repeat the stretch a second time before using the table.

After you have stretched, you should strap your feet to the table and start to tilt the table. Your head will be below your feet and the table should be at a 25 degree angle. Stay inverted for at least five to ten minutes, but feel free to stay in the position even longer.

The inversion table could be your key to pain free living.

Popping pills for your back pain will only temporarily ease the discomfort, it won’t fix the underlying problem. Using a back stretching machine such as an inversion table is a much better approach. It will decompress your spine and relieve the pressure on the vertebral discs. Many people find great results with these appliances.

Having an assessment by a doctor of chiropractic is advisable has there are many many many reasons for back pain and bulging discs is just one of them.

This is excellent advice for utilizing an inversion table, however this treatment is not for everyone. People at high risk for cardiovascular accident should consider other treatment options. Also some people (including myself) find inversion uncomfortable fortunately for these people there are other options for back pain and disc injuries. Inversion can be a source of relief for back pain, but if it’s not for you consider chiropractic manipulation, flexion-distraction therapy, McKenzie, or mechanical traction.
